On the other hand, years of economical troubles have held back Ukrainian construction technologies 

compared to North American and European markets. Benefits of new types of equipment are not well understood in the perspective of "old“ style of construction.

Concrete Pumping is the most popular website in concrete pumping industry. Concrete Pumping serves pumping companies - contractors who are selling a service, the moving of concrete from the truck to the forms. Beside forum, real-life pictures, pumping software, and industry links, you will on the website lots of useful information for pump operators. From our (CMO) point of view it's essential. It is difficult find anywhere else practical advises. Safety related issues are especially important - some advice could safe lives!

In Todd's (owner of the website) point of view privilege to know about "do and don'ts" of pumping business shall not be limited to the English speaking audience. CMO is proud to take part in Concrete Pumping international project of promoting safety practices all over the world. We volunteer to translate into Russian articles related to safety practices in concrete pumping.

Taking in consideration that the high-raise construction is absolutely dominant in Russia and Ukraine, and the fact, that cast-in -place (monolith-frame) technology is taking over old (pre-cast slab-wall) techniques it's easy to understand grows of concrete pump fleet in these countries.

Nevertheless, information about safe and effective methods of concrete pumping is not available in Russian. It's important to fill up this informational gap and provide audience of Russian and Ukrainian construction workers with essential for their effectiveness and safety information.

As the first step of the international project Concrete Pumping published Russian translation of Placing Boom - Ultimate Tool by Tim Swindle. This article is enriched with practical advises for pump operator that involved in using complicated system of placing boom. It includes: estimation of placing boom feasibility, jobsite layout concerns, setting up and preparations, starting and running pumping, cleaning and tear down.

Interview with Yuriy Bordkovych - Salas, Export of SCHWICKERT - Baumaschinen & Nutzfahrzeuge GmbН (Germany). "SCHWICKERT - Baumaschinen" www.schwickert-baumaschinen.de is one of the largest German traders of construction machinery and utility vehicles.

Question: 

How long Schwickert Baumaschinen has been working on the market of CIS?

Yuriy Bordkovych:

More then eight years. The Company was created 35 years ago. It was a local company at that time. Today we supply new and used construction machinery and utility vehicles to 70 countries.

Question: 

If compare used and new equipment, which equipment is on demand?

Yuriy Bordkovych:

Tendency certainly for the new. There is more interest to new machines, especially recently. New equipment buyers from countries of CIS are very big companies. Used equipment still has its customers. Used equipment is much chirpier than new. We try to satisfy all our customers with different financial abilities. 

Question: 

Is there any warranty on used equipment?

Yuriy Bordkovych:

No. A unit of used equipment as a whole does not have warranty coverage. But, all components, assemblies, and parts that were replaced by Schwickert will have warranty. For example, if we changed an engine on one of used machines, the engine would be warranty covered. 

Question: 

Spare parts, repair , maintenance always were a problem in former Soviet Union. What's going on nowadays? Can user of used foreign equipment get any parts?

Yuriy Bordkovych:

That's strength of Schwickert Baumaschinen. We provide post-sale services. We decided to limit age of used equipment to 10 years to make sure that models are still supported by manufacturer's services, and parts available on the market. we provide full set of instructions, parts and maintenance manuals. If our customer needed a part. he could just tell us a part number. or send us by fax a picture from the manual, to get the part.

Question: 

When buying expensive used equipment many customens whould like to see the equipment before buying. How your customers from countries of CIS could come to your yard in Germany?

Yuriy Bordkovych:

We provide help with visas.

Question: 

Do you offer refurbished equipment of equipment "as is" ?

Yuriy Bordkovych:

Both. We have a modern workshop, complete with spray shop, tires and spare parts store, to facilitate any modifications or repairs. nevertheless, biggest part of refurbishing cost is labor. Labor is very expensive in Germany. Many of our customers form countries of CIF prefer to refurbish equipment themselves, because labor would cost them less in their own countries.

Pickup truck definitely is not a construction equipment, because it is not involved in actual construction of the buildings or other structures. The forecast is targeting the Ukrainian public, that could be interested to know what construction market depend on under conditions of free market economy. Such well developed in North America institutions as mortgage, investment, real estate, equipment rental services are new for most of the Ukrainian public. Ukraine just have been recognized as a market economy by Europe (EU-Ukraine Summit, Kiev, 1 December 2005). Further progress in democratization of the Ukrainian economy makes "mortgage", "investment", and "real estate" a permanent part of peoples lives.

The purpose of this forecast is to overview the American construction market illustrating how mortgage, investment, real estate, and equipment rental services work for American people.

The biggest in Ukraine Construction Trade Show BuildTech'2005 took place in Kiev, Ukraine in October 11-14, 2005. It was the third show since it started in 2003. The exhibition reached targeted audience - the key buyers of today's Ukrainian market. The major brands of construction machinery and material handling equipment were presented at the show. BuildTech'2005 definitely became another step to the globalization of the Ukrainian construction equipment market.

Success of the exhibition was a result of changes in Ukrainian political situation if compare to the last year. Up coming regulation in the area of real estate together with implementation of ground-rules of international commerce create attractive environment for investors. It's easy to predict further grows of construction sector that is booming already. No wonder that construction equipment is on high demand.
