CATERPILLAR'S
RESPONSE TO HURRICANE KATRINA
September 15, 2005 - Caterpillar and its dealer network continue to
respond to Hurricane Katrina by mobilizing product, personnel and
resources to help assist the governmental and non-governmental agencies
responding to this disaster.
The Caterpillar Foundation is matching employee and retiree contributions
made to The American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief fund and The
Salvation Army's Hurricane Katrina relief fund. There is no cap on
contributions, and Caterpillar will match donations made through the end
of September 2005. To date, pledges for contributions in excess of $2
million in cash and in-kind equipment and product support have been made
for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Here are just a few examples of what's taken place in the Gulf Coast
region in recent days:
* Working with dealer Louisiana Machinery Company, Caterpillar employees
from the Electric Power Division helped install three power modules in New
Orleans at the Haynes Street pumping station. The power modules are being
used to power pumps helping to remove water from the city and back into
Lake Pontchatrain.
* To help speed the delivery of parts to the region, Caterpillar has
increased shuttles to the Gulf Coast from distribution centers. This means
most parts are delivered to a customer within 24 hours of an order.
* In order to better serve our dealers and customers in the Gulf Coast,
Caterpillar has temporarily waived expedited charges for parts delivered
to dealers in Mississippi and Louisiana.
* The Wheel Loaders and Excavators Division (WLED) is donating two
material handlers for use by municipalities in Louisiana and Mississippi.
A large material handler is also being donated to the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers to help rebuild levees.
* Due to the shortage of fuel, machines shipped to the region are being
topped off with fuel at the plants so they can immediately be put into
service.
* The Electric Power Division has arranged for 60 Cat power modules to be
shipped from Brazil to the Gulf Coast region. Each can be used to power
about 200 homes.
In the days and weeks ahead, as the exact needs for the region are known,
Caterpillar and its dealer network will work hand in hand to assist those
in need. |

GLOBAL ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $1 MILLION IN EQUIPMENT, CASH DONATIONS FOR
HURRICANE RELIEF
Sept. 9, 2005 - CNH Global N.V., one of the world's largest manufacturers
of agriculture and construction equipment, today announced it will donate
more than $1 million of construction equipment to support ongoing relief
and restoration efforts related to Hurricane Katrina, which devastated
several Gulf Coast states.
"Our deepest condolences go out to all of those who have been
affected directly or indirectly by this immense natural disaster,"
said Harold Boyanovsky, president and CEO of CNH. "We are pleased to
be in a position to provide equipment needed to begin the process of
rebuilding these communities."
CNH continues to work closely with their dealers in the region, with the

In addition to providing equipment, CNH also announced it will match
individual employee donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief
Fund on a dollar-for-dollar basis. CNH will continue to monitor the
recovery progress and develop further actions to allow employee volunteers
to assist affected family members and dealers to cope with their
